The Newly Dead Game is a game that awards cold, hard cash for cold, hard stiffs. It's a game that becomes an all-consuming passion. With no time outs, no off season, no rest other than that which is in peace, The Newly Dead Game is the ultimate in games. No, you can't cheat death, but you can profit from it.
The game is very simple. In December, each player composes a list of famous people who they believe will not be around to ring in the New Year a year hence. Players receive points for each person on their list who kicks the bucket during the year. The fewer players who pick a particular celebrity, the more points are scored by those who do. The players who score the most points by year's end split the money in the pot.
WARNING: The Newly Dead Game can become addictive. It can quickly become more than just a game. Once you enter, you may begin to find yourself turning to the obituaries when you first open the morning paper. You start salivating when you hear that the Pope has cancelled an appearance or hear that Billy Graham has a cold. What the Dow did today, the war on terrorism, the latest sex scandal, all become secondary to that craving for more points and that gleaming pot of gold at the end of the year. So, think twice before deciding to play. For once you start, life (and death) may never be the same again.
